This symposium will identify critical needs and opportunities in geotechnical engineering to improve resilience to water-related hazards and wildfire. Geotechnical engineers, industry leaders, and multidisciplinary experts will examine unresolved geotechnical performance issues revealed during recent extreme events and consider how fundamental research could advance solutions.
Discussions will also address the state of information and analytics needed to support advanced approaches to geological engineering, modeling, and construction in the context of these extreme events. The program will include dedicated opportunities for interaction, including Q&A with experts and a town hall session for participants to share perspectives and raise questions. The keynote address will be delivered by Scott Anderson, a geotechnical design and construction leader at BGC Engineering.
