Cecília Rodrigues é Professora Catedrática da Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade de Lisboa e investigadora do Instituto de Investigação do Medicamento. Desempenha atualmente as funções de Vice-Reitora da Universidade de Lisboa, com o pelouro da Investigação e Inovação, e coordena o Programa Doutoral em Saúde Planetária da Universidade de Lisboa.
Estudou e trabalhou na University of Cincinnati e na University of Minnesota, nos Estados Unidos. Na Faculdade de Farmácia, foi presidente de Departamento, cofundadora e diretora da Unidade de Investigação, vice-presidente do Conselho Científico e cofundadora e vice-presidente da Associação para a Investigação e Desenvolvimento. Criou o Programa Doutoral em Medicamento e Inovação Farmacêutica e o Mestrado em Ciências Biofarmacêuticas.
Foi membro do Conselho Científico das Ciências da Saúde e da Vida da Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia e integrou o Conselho de Governação da Associação Europeia para o Estudo do Fígado. Investiga nas áreas das ciências biofarmacêuticas e biomédicas, liderando consórcios e projetos de investigação competitivos, e é autora de livros, capítulos, patentes e publicações científicas internacionais.
É editora associada e membro de conselhos editoriais de revistas científicas internacionais e integra painéis de avaliação de instituições e projetos em ciências médicas e da saúde. Foi distinguida com o Prémio Sheila Sherlock e a Medalha Sir Hans Krebs, sendo Membro Correspondente da Academia de Ciências de Lisboa.
Cecília Rodrigues is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon and a researcher at the Research Institute for Medicines. She currently serves as Vice-Rector of the University of Lisbon, with responsibility for Research and Innovation, and coordinates the Doctoral Program in Planetary Health at the University of Lisbon.
She studied and worked at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Minnesota, in the United States. At the Faculty of Pharmacy, she has served as Department Chair, co-founder and director of the Research Unit, vice-president of the Scientific Council, and co-founder and vice-president of the Association for Research and Development. She established the Doctoral Program in Medicines and Pharmaceutical Innovation and the Master’s in Biopharmaceutical Sciences.
She has been a member of the Scientific Council for Health and Life Sciences at the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology and served on the Governing Board of the European Association for the Study of the Liver. Her research focuses on biopharmaceutical and biomedical sciences, leading consortia and competitive research projects, and she is the author of books, book chapters, patents, and international scientific publications.
She is an associate editor and member of editorial boards of international scientific journals and participates in evaluation panels for institutions and projects in medical and health sciences. She has been awarded the Sheila Sherlock Prize and the Sir Hans Krebs Medal and is a Corresponding Member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences.
