Micaela Monteiro

CUF

Micaela Seemann Monteiro is Chief Medical Officer for Digital Transformation at CUF, one of Portugal’s largest private healthcare providers. She also holds the position of Clinical Director at CUF Digital – CUF’s digital health unit.

With her teams, she has developed new healthcare delivery models that embed human and digital touchpoints in hybrid patient journeys.


She served as Director of the National TeleHealth Center and NHS’ Contact Center, SNS 24, at the Shared Services for the Portuguese Ministry of Health. Among other projects, she led the conception of the National Strategic Telehealth Plan and of the digital channel of SNS 24.

Micaela has worked in several projects exploring AI in healthcare, among others with Fraunhofer Institute Portugal and Universidade de Évora.


Micaela graduated at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität in Düsseldorf and has worked in Germany, UK and Portugal.

She is postgraduate in Information Management and Business Intelligence in Healthcare by NOVA IMS.
She attended the Health Sector Senior Management Program of AESE Business School, MIT’s Artificial Intelligence in Health Care and Harvard’s Leadership in Digital Health Programs.


Micaela is co-creator and coordinator of the Key Knowledge in Digital Health course at AHED by Nova Medical School. She also shares her extensive expertise as digital health expert with several international organizations, including EIT Health, European Commission and the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development.
